Ideas developing
I started to play around with ideas for fonts, starting with burning my fingers with pancakes only to discover that it had been done before. Then, aimlessly sitting around at a table with a couple of paper clips, I thought it would be cool to fiddle with them to make letters. Soon the pliers were out to help. In no time I had a plan. The rule/constraint I set myself was only one paper clip per letter, no more, no less, thus leaving the need to fold back to deal with excess wire, and making it problematic to deal with letters such as K. I got into it and soon had a full alphabet.
Then I created the word TYPE trying out the idea for the magazine cover of assignment 4.
Then I decided to try to create a digital version of the paper clip type, with no refinements, simply following the wiggly lines of the paper clips. I couldn’t decide what colour, or thickness to do them. Of course, I can change them all easily now that they are digital.
